The department has hosted the first National Conference (NAPCON) of Chest Physicians in 1999 with the combined presence of the ICS (Indian Chest Society) and NCCP (National College of Chest Physicians, supported by the ACCP (American Colleges of Chest Physician), ATS (American Thoracic Society) and ASDA (American Sleep disorders Association).

The department has also hosted the first ever international conference on sleep medicine in 1995 in coordination with the (ASDA) American Sleep Disorders Association.  Since then the department has hosted three more international conferences on sleep medicine in 1996, 2002 & 2005.These have given rise to  an interest among physicians in an hitherto unexplored field of medicine.

The department has been holding a monthly clinical meeting since the past five years, under the aegis of the NCCP (Delhi Chapter) where in all the Hospitals / Chest Physicians of Delhi meet to discuss interesting clinical cases and has interactive discussion on current issues in chest medicine. 

National Bodies / Journals 

The department has set up the ISDA (Indian Sleep Disorders Association) 1994 and since Dec 2005 has been taking out a quarterly international indexed journal “The Indian Journal of Sleep Medicine”.
